10 Motivational Songs to Get Your A** Out the Door

Let’s face it.  There are some days where running for 30+ minutes seems like a chore.

On those tough days, I always resort to the power of music.  Here are some of my favorite songs to play right before a big run.  I tried to switch go for my deep cuts and/or tried and true songs.  After all, I don’t want to rehash the top 40.  I hope you find a gem in here somewhere.

Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen

Because why wouldn’t I add a song from the greatest vocalist of all time.  My boy Freddie Mercury always gets the job done.  This song is like a melodic cup of coffee.

Can’t Remember to Forget You (Fedde le Grand Remix)- Shakira and Rihanna

I despised this song when it was in the top 40.  Then, one day it came on my shuffle during a particularly exhausting run.  The rest is history.  Plus, Rihanna.  Rihanna always.

Two Worlds (Soundtrack Version) – Phil Collins

Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t run to a Disney song with a good beat.  You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life.

Black Skinhead – Kanye West

Imma let you finish, but Kanye West wrote one of the best running songs of all time.

Believer – Imagine Dragons

I feel like this is a top 40.  Sorry for defaulting to basic, but this is definitely a war song.

Look What You Made Me Do (Toxic Remix) – Taylor Swift and Britney Spears

For any girl that’s pissed at her boyfriend, this is for you.

The Middle – Jimmy Eat World

Every time I turn this on, I get so much nostalgia.  It’s got a great tempo, and it reminds me of being an angsty middle schooler.  I just realized Taylor Swift made a commercial to this.  Nothing is a coincidence.

Tryouts – The Rudy Soundtrack

When I was going to school at Notre Dame, this was the first song on my running playlist.  Is that really surprising?  I revisited it the other day, and it still works like a charm.

Back in the Saddle – Aerosmith

Just a couple of boys from Boston.  The real magic starts at the four-minute mark.

I’m Shipping Up to Boston – Dropkick Murphys

Just a few more boys from Boston.  I tried to find a remix version, but nothing compares to the original TBH.
